A Good Delivery, A Holiday-seasoned Tale by A.H.A. Roan

Is a slice of life… like a slice of pizza? At the far end of a city’s wintery outer-borough, Matthew Cohen hadn’t been taking his job, or life, too seriously, until opportunity unexpectedly answered the door while he was making a delivery.

Main characters of the story:

Matthew Cohen, The best pizza-delivery boy in the city

Hammond, Matt’s friend and partner in crime.

Jason Cohen, An inspiring father, yet a troubling exhibit of truths.

Shelly, A young lady who is about to come out of her shell.

With every cheesy pie he shuttles in the neighborhood he thought he knew, Matt encounters customers that want something more, whether it be discounts, drugs or love. Now he can’t extend any discounts, but this delivery boy, with a helping of good business sense, is about to serve up what the people want, and end up receiving more than he could imagine.

Matt finds himself navigating the tensions of his parent’s relationship, growing threats from petty corruption to organized crime and jail, English class, moral accountability and then ultimately bearing witness to an isolated life’s divine epiphany. All the while making sure his boss at Big Brother’s Pizza thinks everything is business as usual.

The Author

For his forth novel, A.H.A. Roan approaches the themes of right & wrong with an eye to conflict of interest, exploring how the things we’re told to think are “right” can raise warnings in our mind, while all we’re made to think is “wrong” never ends to tempt us. How we make sense of it is a matter of perspective.
